It's been a few months since I finished The Witch's Eye, and that mad frantic dash to get the story out drained me a bit. I don't consider edits and revisions to be "writing" for me, though of course they are, but the processes of revising, cutting, even adding and expanding is so much easier for me than the initial outpouring of story. Editing and revising is actually kind of fun, whereas some days, cranking out the words is a painful process.
But I won't be free of this story until I get it out. As the plot points begin to fall into place like Tetris pieces, and I start to think about it at night before I fall asleep and in the morning as I lay in bed after waking up, I know it's time.
I'm aiming for 1500 words/day. You can watch me fall significantly short of that on my progress bar.
Editing and revising is SOOOOO much easier than new writing. Much less brain power required, especially when you've read the material 586 times. And the words are already there.
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to get my characters out of a friggin car and into this town they are going to, but they won't shut the hell up! Characters can be such divas sometimes.
Slap them down. Show them who's boss!
