Sunday: a Day for Rambling

(Don't expect anything earth-shattering...)

It's a good day for sports! AFC and NFC Championship games (as much as the state of Pennsylvania would love their own SuperBowl, I'm going with Baltimore over the Steelers and Philly over Zona) will be racked up on my flat screen all day. Meanwhile, Australia's launching the season for two major international sports today: Lance Armstrong makes his return to competitive cycling in the 2009 Tour Down Under, and in tennis, the Australian Open begins today, which is actually tomorrow, and DirecTV will feed my geekiness with six, count 'em, SIX channels of multi-court action. Yeehaw!

President Obama will be able to keep his BlackBerry! As a fellow BB lover, I'm sharing in his joy. However, according to MSNBC he and his staff will no longer be able to communicate via Instant Messenger as they did on the campaign trail. I think they can thank Kwame Kilpatrick for that one.

The gay boys and I try to get in at least two or three Sunday dinners a month, where we pick new spots to try and old favorites to savor. This week, one of my favorite LA haunts - Monsieur Marcel at the Farmer's Market. May be brave and get the mussels in cream broth again, despite my last bought with food poisoning. What is wrong with me?

Mass chaos spread through the online writers community AbsoluteWrite.com's Absolute Water Cooler Forum crashed on Friday leaving many - self included - reeling. Yes, I got some "writing" stuff accomplished, but what's the point when I don't have my writer peeps to share it with? Oh, the horror. The site's back up, but still wonky. I'VE MISSED YOU PURGATORY!!!

For those of you who love to shop, the companies of Gap are still having what amounts to a Fire Sale. Banana Republic, Gap and Old Navy have some ridiculous sales. I got some lovely trouser pants at Gap for $13/pair, and a sapphire blue cashmere blend sweater at BR for $17. There. I did my part to bolster the economy. President Obama, you can thank me via IM. :)
