Sequel Saga, Part the First

As many of you (don't) know, I've written a novel. Well actually, I've written two, but the one that snagged me an agent (henceforth to be known as "Rockstar" herein) is a YA urban fantasy called The Witch's Eye.

Now, it came to my attention over the holidays that whenever W'sE goes on submission to publishers, I should probably have some sort of sequel(s) outlined as well.

And that's when I started to panic.

I think I've written a pretty good adventure, but now I'm staring down the barrel of the Sequel Shotgun, terrified that I won't be able to concoct anything that isn't either (a) a simple retred of the original, (b) a complete ripoff or (c) boring as all hell. I've been researching my little booty off, praying that all the bits and pieces of random knowledge floating around in my cerebrospinal fluid might just bump into each other, initiating some kind of inspirational chain reaction that will result in a plot.

And that's where the fluffy dog comes in.

Since Mr. Fluffy can't reach the toilet, I have to take him out several times a day. And today, in the chill of an LA morning, I had a breakthrough! Apparently, I've put just enough facts into my Magic 8 Ball of a brain and shaken (not stirred) it sufficiently to produce a cohesive plot point. Just one, mind you, but it's a start.

  2. Bless Mr. Fluffy for doing his part. Her Dogginess, my own four-footed freeloader, rarely acts as a muse. Mostly she leans on my arm when I type, sending spellchecker into seizures.

    Congrats on the breaththrough!
