SUCH A RUSH
High school senior Leah Jones loves nothing more than flying. While she’s in the air, it’s easy to forget life with her absentee mother at the low-rent end of a South Carolina beach town. When her flight instructor, Mr. Hall, hires her to fly for his banner advertising business, she sees it as her ticket out of the trailer park. And when he dies suddenly, she’s afraid her flying career is gone forever.
But Mr. Hall’s teenage sons, golden boy Alec and adrenaline junkie Grayson, are determined to keep the banner planes flying. Though Leah has crushed on Grayson for years, she’s leery of getting involved in what now seems like a doomed business--until Grayson betrays her by digging up her most damning secret. Holding it over her head, he forces her to fly for secret reasons of his own, reasons involving Alec. Now Leah finds herself drawn into a battle between brothers--and the consequences could be deadly.
Engrossing and intense, SUCH A RUSH is a captivating adventure that is sure to keep readers soaring.

GM: What are your favorite and least favorite parts of the writing "process"?
JE: I love the part where I really get going and I’m writing so fast that I get lost. I hate writing a proposal, because I have to tell an editor how the book is going to turn out before writing it, which is pretty much impossible for me.
GM: What was the main inspiration for this book?
JE: I took a trip to the beach with my family. While there, I drove with my dad, who is a pilot, to the tiny airport to watch the advertising banner planes take off and land. When he told me the pilots were very young because they were amassing hours to become airline pilots someday, I knew that would be my next book.
GM: Who would you cast if your book was made into a movie?
JE: People keep asking me this. I am lame because I don’t know. I don’t see enough movies or watch enough TV to know who the new stars are. I would appreciate it if readers could e-mail me with suggestions, and then I’ll know the answer the next time I get asked!
GM: If you could ask one person, living or dead, a single question that they'd HAVE to answer, who and what would be it?
JE: I would ask Harper Lee why she quit writing novels. This haunts me.
FAST FIVE:
Pie or Cake? Cake. Chocolate.
Coffee or Tea? Coffee.
Mac or PC? PC, but maybe a Mac next time around.
Guilty Pleasure? Pedicures. I’ve only had two in my whole life, both recently because I’ve been running so much that my toes look rough. But now that I have had a pedicure, I want all of the pedicures.
Can't live without? Sunshine. And sunscreen.

Lovely interview! I'm a sucker for any book set in SC. I can't wait to check this out. Please do ask Harper Lee, I think we're all dying to know!
