pandora/ipod: "mama loves mambo" by perry comoSome of you may remember my Kirkus review for POSSESS. It wasn't...good. HAHAHAHAHA.
Understatement of the century.
So when I heard their review for TEN was coming up, I was slightly nervous. BUT NO NEED! Here's just a bit:
A scary gorefest of murder and mayhem, not for the faint of heart.I really only cut the synopses parts because, let's face it, you don't want to know too much about this book before you crack it open, and there were some almost spoilers in the review.
Clues are just amorphous enough to sustain the mystery, and since mistakes are lethal, the suspense is high.
For murder-mystery fans, there's more than enough horror and gore to sustain this effort (and several more), making for a breathless read. (Mystery/horror. 14 & up)
That said, I'm over the moon excited. I mean, seriously, "A scary gorefest of murder and mayhem, not for the faint of heart"? WHAT MORE COULD A GIRL ASK FOR?????
OOH yay! Kirkus is on with their reviews, but I've read some that I've scratched my head over. Glad you got such a great response for Ten. I think the book sounds super interesting.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Well, they kinda hated POSSESS, so I take it all with a grain of salt. ;)
ReplyDeleteYAY! congrats on the positive review!
ReplyDeletei've read andrew smith complain about kirkus reviews over on his blog. he's had them get the facts wrong about the book, even if the review was essentially positive. so... i'm just saying, i wouldn't let them get to you about the possess review. but any positive review means that someone LOVED your book! so! HUZZAH!
Woo-hoo! Congrats! Can't wait to read TEN!
ReplyDeleteThat review's fabulous, Gretchen! Congratulations -- I hope the book does great! :-D
