pandora/ipod: "hysteria" by muse
I received my much ballyhooed edit letter for BANISH from the fabulous Kristin Daly last week. Time to settle in for some serious revisions! Here's the marked up manuscript (I do look a little apprehensive, don't I?)
The green pencil is supposed to be soothing, right?
The "Edit Letter" itself is complete with HarperCollins letterhead (OMGSQUEEAWESOME!) which I think I'm going to frame one day.
And here are my comments therein, color-coded in red and blue, just like I did in high school. Old habit die hard.
My Revising Oasis is primed.
I've stocked up on "supplies."
Power breakfast was consumed.
And last Happy Hour Hurrah with the girls was executed.
Yep. Time to start revising. Time to start. Time to dive right on in. Time to get this going. Time to....
Ooooo, shiny things!
Congrats! I'm in the middle of reading a book I'm supposed to review on my blog but it appears the author didn't take editing seriously. Oh, let's be serious, he didn't edit at all. AT. ALL. The misuse of words, the grammar, using the wrong character's names, it makes me cringe. I really want to contact him and tell him that I just cannot get past all the mistakes, it's taking away from the story!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! I love your "supplies." May your cabinet always be full.
ReplyDeleteExciting! PS. Love the bookshelves.
ReplyDeleteisn't it so great to have Kristin Daly's help to make your MS shine even more than it did before? it's going to be awesome. it's going to blow minds... but first you actually have to get to work.
ReplyDeleteyour MS will be the shiniest thing- so don't let those other things distract you with their cheap attempts to pull you in! :)
Cuddly Wolfie for comfort and reassurance? check.
ReplyDeleteThis is totally awesome!!!! Now get to work, Missy.
Oh, Harper Collins letterhead! You must frame it. I love your puppy in the background with his head resting on the stuffed toy. I want to hug him.
ReplyDeleteFrame that letterhead girl! Keep it close to your work area so you can always see it! Love your supplies ... but IMO you don't have enough chocolate :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Makes it all so real, too. You're gonna do it, G. You're gonna be a real in-print author! :)
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!! And I love your supplies! You go girl!!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! Thanks for sharing. I love the pictures. :) Good luck with those edits!
ReplyDeleteHehe, good luck with the edits. :D That looks so exciting.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with edits! And that Malibu... ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I'm about to embark on a second round from the agent. My stomach is just now forgiving me for the Red Bull intake of last round. You've inspired me to try liquor instead.
ReplyDeleteThis is the most exciting part!! Woo hoo! And I'm so jealous. I got my marked up (heavily) MS, but no letter. Just notes on the pages. Boo hoo.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
How exciting. Love the "supplies" and I agree with framing your letterhead. How exciting!:)
ReplyDeleteI love that I typed EDIT into google images and your photo was one in the top row! :)
