pandora/ipod: "just fine" by mary j. blige
So I like what I see when I’m looking at me
When I’m walking past the mirror.
Ain't worried about you and what you gonna do
I’m a lady so I must stay classy.
Got to keep it hot, keep it together
If I want to get better.
You see I wouldn’t change my life, my life’s just fine.
Yeah, I'm singing along. Sue me.
I need the inspiration. The psych up. The girl power motivation. I'm like a featherweight prepping for the championship. I've got a huge challenge ahead of me...
Help.
Okay, so here's the deal. I need to write - roughly - 1000 words a day, every day, for the next ten weeks. Yep, you did the math correctly. 70K words, give or take, by the end of July.
It's doable. A challenge, but doable. I've got a good start and a good outline and God knows I love a challenge. In fact, sometimes I think I can't accomplish anything unless there's a challenge of some sort involved - a goal, a deadline, a showdown. It's my hyperactive competitive nature kicking into overdrive.
So here's the thing: TEN (tentative title of said manuscript) needs your help. Er, okay, *I* need your help. Keep me on track? 1000 words a day. Every day.
I'll twitter update my progress. Bring it.
Oh, friend, I am so right there with you. If it makes you feel any better, my deadline is end of June (and I'm 30K in)...we can do it! Mostly because we have to. ha!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it, just power through. Do 15 minute writing sprints (you can normally get around 400-500 words from a sprint) whenever you have a spare moment.
ReplyDeleteThe trick is to switch off Internal Editor.
GO GO GO
1000 words is actually pretty easy. It's keeping it going for that long. I whipped out 31000 words in about 2 weeks, then stopped for the last week and a half as I planned my next part--yet I'm not motivated either. But I'm sure one of us will turn into Gunnery Sergeant Hartman and find a way to motivate you. I wish you, and TEN, the best of all possible luck!
ReplyDeleteRight there with you! Go, Gretchen, go!
ReplyDeleteI just started a new wip yesterday and did the first 1K, so I'll join you! :)
