pandora/ipod: "holiday road" by lindsey buckinghamDo you remember those 3:59 T-shirts I have? Let me refresh your memory...
Awesome, right?
I've got a bunch of them and I want you to have them. And wear them. Specifically at BEA, ALA, RT, RWA or ComiCon. Hell, or any other convention or conference. The idea is getting the shirt - and the book - out there.
So, pitch yourself to me!
If you're going to one of these events in 2013, pitch yourself as a human billboard! Right here, in the comments to this post. Tell me where you're going and when you'll wear the shirt. I'll be picking winners based on your pitch, so be prepared to whore yourself out. Er, I mean... Well, I guess that's exactly what I mean!
Shirts come in Ladies XL (fits me perfectly, and as you know, I'm a busty, chubster) and Mens Large. I have limited quantities of both, so the sooner you pitch yourself, the sooner I can put a shirt aside for you.
This is an honor system kind of thing for the most part, but I do ask that you (a) take photos of yourself wearing the shirt at the convention you're attending and (b) tweet about it with the hashtag #359. Plus, I'll be picking my favorite photos for special swag!
That's it! Let the pitching begin!!!!

Argh! I would have totally worn this to PlanetComicon that was in KC a couple weeks ago! Anyway, I'm going to RT this year. I will totally wear one and take pictures! Don't have any other events planned (money), but I'll be sure to wear it and take pictures at random places. :D
ReplyDeleteAlso, I will change my twitter avatar to me wearing it, plus write up a blog post. :D
DeleteI'd also be willing to sell my soul... ;-)
I will be attending BEA this year, as a blogger for Wastepaper Prose *and* a fangirl of debut author Cristin Terrill. I plan on being front and center at the YA Buzz Books panel on Friday morning, so your snazzy adver-shirt will be seen by all attendees, panelists, and other smiley fangirls. I love to wander expo floors, so think of the eyeball traffic your shirt would get due to my wandering feet! PLUS-- we're talking NYC, bb. So many people, so many opportunities for me to flail about and point out the 3:59 plastered across my person.
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying... McNeil 4 Lyfe.
I will be attending BEA this year. I will also be attending Teen Author Carnival. So not only will many people see me wearing it just around NYC, but I could wear it for two different events (BEA and Teen Author Carnival) doubling the exposure for 3:59. Pretty sure it'll be a conversation starter, and luckily I love to chat up books. I gladly offer myself up as a billboard for your book.
ReplyDeleteI am a fellow B+B author and would be honored to wear your shirt!I am going to RT and Bea.
ReplyDeleteTeri
Well, I'm not going to any of those events, but seeing as I am a teenager and i do go to a high school, which is where your main target audience is forced to spend 6 hours of their day, it could be super useful to have someone promoting it there. Also, I go to bookstores ALL the time, and if you see a person in a book shirt in a bookstore you have to ask them about it, right? I basically live in the teen section at like 4 different bookstores in my area, so that's ANOTHER target audience, teen book readers IN a bookstore. So, yeah.
ReplyDeleteAnna, can you email me? I can't find your address anywhere!
DeleteI am going to ALA for the whole event as a new librarian and as a lover of YA lit. I would be honored to wear your shirt and not only discuss it but flail about YA literature in general. I could resist fangirling and flailing, but I think you're into that.
ReplyDeleteI'm attending ALA, and I will definitely wear the shirt there. I plan to meet authors and bloggers, and wearing the 3:59 shirt can promote it even more! But not only will I be attending ALA, I also attend author signings and can wear the shirt to those events. And I also will be attending Southern Festival of Books, which is a book festival held in the south celebrating authors and books, as well as YallFest, another book festival. I absolutely canNOT wait for 3:59, and I would be so honored to wear the 3:59 shirt!
ReplyDelete-Brad @ BookYAReview (plus, I adored Possess and Ten, and 3:59 sounds amazing!)
I'm going to ALA, BEA and NYCC this year, (and ALAMW in January) and I will wear this shirt at all three events. (And gladly too, one less outfit to plan, AND I get to promote one of the best Thriller YA authors out there? Double Win.). I loved being a part of the ARMY of TEN, so another change to help promote another one of your books would be something that I'm very interested in. I'll also be posting pictures from the events (because I'm a camera junkie) not just on Twitter and Facebook for my friends and followers to see, but I will also be posting photographs on my blog!
ReplyDeleteI also feel really awkward pitching myself like this, but here it is. I'm all about the books.
- Nicole @ Paperback Princess (musichn91 at gmail dot com)
I am attending ALA and SD Comic-Con this year, and will DEFINITELY wear your t-shirt to both events. We are also doing a post-ALA teen booktalk event at our library ("Burritos and Books") where we will discuss current and forthcoming YA books (and also give away tons of books!). Just a couple of weeks ago, I booktalked TEN to an eager crowd of teens, and I am certain they will be dying to read 3:59. I'm also an avid Tweeter/FB'er, so I will definitely post pictures of the events. Lastly, I tend to be out on the floor, more during Comic-Con (where most of the people are), so folks will definitely see the tee and ask questions. :D
ReplyDelete~Lali @ Masala Reader (@librarian_lali)
I will be attending RT, BEA and SD COMIC CON and would proudly be your human billboard. I am also attending a few book signings here in Wisconsin where I could also wear it to. I'm sure by the end it will be pretty worn out :). I would definitely tweet pictures and could do a blog post on my blog, Girls With Books, naming it The Adventures Of The 3:59 T-Shirt
ReplyDeleteLisa, can you email me pretty please? :)
DeleteJust did :)
DeleteI'll be attending COMIC CON in San Diego again this year with my blog partner Lisa, who also wrote in the comments. We blog about our love for books on http://girlswithbook.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI would wear it to other book events around Las Vegas. I would also wear it to the Vegas Valley Book Festival in the Fall, which I know you're attending this year, to show you what I look like in it. ;)
And I would tweet the pictures of Lisa and myself in the shirts and it would be on our blog. :)
DeleteHi Gretchen! This is Jaime over at Fic Fare. I will be attending both BEA and ALA in the coming months and would be honored to have the chance to get the word out about 3:59! I'm excited to have the opportunity to go and I know that all my friends would be jealous if they could see me wandering around the convention centers wearing your shirt! Because believe me I will be tweeting and posting the pictures on twitter and instagram! At this time I will try and refrain from shouting 'pick me pick me pick me' and simply tell you as one busty chick to another how much I would love being chosen! On another note... I'm going to be reading 3:59 shortly, my lovely friend loaned me the ARC she got during the #YAppiest day! I'm super excited to start!

I will be at BEA this year and will wear your shirt there and around NYC. I have no problem with going up to total strangers and asking them "Do you know what time it is?" then blurt out "IT'S 3:59 TIME!!!" Then I will proceed to break out into the hammer time dance. After I have scared them away I will yell "ADD IT ON GRs TODAY!!!" Yea....that should scare a lot of people into reading it, right? All in the spirit of 3:59!!!!
ReplyDeleteLa'Mecia@RottenAppleReads
Dear DOG, I love the idea of Hammer Time in a 3:59 shirt...
DeleteI would go around and talk to bloggers about the book and have them hold up the shirt to take a picture for proof and after BEA I could link their photos and blogs!! I am also a bookseller so I am a pro at selling a book or upcoming title! I would love to promote your book because I loved TEN!
ReplyDeleteTt@ Never Ending Stories
6'4" ginger going to BEA. Sold.
ReplyDeleteI will wear it to RT teen day :)
ReplyDeleteCrystal, can you email me pretty please?
DeleteGoing to TLA and BEA this year.
ReplyDeleteI wore a Mara Dyer tshirt with a super cute blazer to BEA and made it look CHIC! Im sure I can beat that look when I wear the 3:59 shirt to BEA this year.
Or I can make it a double and wear mines at the same time that Amber from Me, My Shelf and I can wear hers to BEA. We will rock the twin look!!!!! Double Trouble!!!
I'm going to the BEA and I'd love to wear this shirt, along with when I go out to read I'd wear this just so the public can see the shirt.
ReplyDeletei'm attending ALA and would happily wear the shirt around! since i'm wickedly excited about the book anyway, i would have no problems telling people about it and to pre-order and to read it. also, not just at ALA, but anywhere and everywhere someone asked me what it meant. :) i'm also visiting NYC this year (but not for BEA) and would wear it anywhere i think people will see. which is pretty much anywhere. :) this is also my first time at a convention aside from RT, so :) my husband is going with me to ALA, so if you wanted him to wear one as well he would too :)
ReplyDeleteI am all over Comic-Con! Last year I spent about 50% of my time around publishing booths and the other half in panels (both small and large) or walking throughout the rest of the convention center. So you could say I get around ;) also this year is a bit different for me because I do have a blog and will be doing a con recap (which I can totally include this!)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to RT and BEA and I'd proudly wear the 3:59 shirt to both and be your human billboard! I'd wear it on Teen Day for RT :).
ReplyDelete~ Jen @ A Book and a Latte
I'm attending BEA and possibly ALA (not completely sure if I can)! I'll be more that happy to strut around in that shirt! I have no problem being a human billboard LOL. My mind keeps going to the image of people watching me walk by with an amazing shirt that they may or may not have. It'll surely bring their attention to 3:59! They'll be knocking on your doors for your new book ;) And really, who wears a beautiful shirt only twice? I'll wear it everywhere~ *reeling in the fans*

I am attending ALA this year. I'll also be going to TLA but we leave tonight therefore making that statement completely irrelevant, and I'm clearly getting off to a bad start on this pitch...sooooooo...
ReplyDeleteI will most definitely whore myself in this shirt, not by taking it off, but by going around town in it. I've been around the ALA block so whoring myself is not a problem. I'm a blogger over at Addicted 2 Novels and constantly tweet pics of myself with authors on Twitter (Lena1xoxo) and Instagram. When people ask me "What does 3:59 represent?", I'll respond "Gretchen McNeil, Harper Teen booth, be ready to get scared senseless." While I haven't read 3:59, I did read TEN so if it's anything like that, people should be prepared to have the crap scared right out of them.
Also, did I mention that I'm super lazy? What I mean by this is I'll most likely not change whenever my fellow bloggers and I go out to dinner or go to whatever blogger/author party is happening around town. That means I'll be wearing your shirt all over Chicago. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness.
So there you have it. My pitch. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
XOXO,
Lena

Hey Gretchen, :)
ReplyDeleteI will be tearing up New York for two and a half weeks and that includes BEA to meet with some pubs and for overall shenanigans. Would love to rock your 3:59 shirt on the 30th when I see you at your signing @ Table 12 (10:30) and take a pic with you and the tee shirt for Facebook and a blog post. Hope all is well and congrats on the upcoming release!
Sincerely,
Emma Michaels

Hey Gretchen! How about some "southern" exposure? I'll be at Dragon Con in Atlanta this fall. Is that too late?
ReplyDeleteMy best to you!
Tina B.
Tima, not to late at all. Can you email me? gretchen (dot) mcneil (at) gmail.
Deleteemail on its way!
DeleteHi there! I'm going to San Diego Comic Con in July and Rose City Comic Con in September and would LOVE to have a 3:59 t-shirt to help promote what I'm sure will be another awesome book from you. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMaria
NovelInsanity@gmail.com
I will be attending SDCC in July where the 2nd most asked question is Where did you get that shirt? ( The first being what are you in line for?) so 4 days, thousands of people endless opportunities to talk about your book!
ReplyDeleteSo I can easily tell you that I will be attending BEA, Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, Wizard World New York Experience, San Diego Comic Con, and New York Comic Con, but since everyone else has mentioned all of these, or something similar to these how about I tell you where I will not be attending?
ReplyDeleteWell I won't be attending the circus next week with my family because clowns scare me. I also won't be attending the zoo next month because I once had a bad run in with a pair of monkeys (I still have nightmares from this!) I also won't be attending my little cousin's dance recital because my efforts to become a ballerina fell flat along with my flat feet!
But those are just personal and family events! I will not under and circumstances attend the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, The National Stationery Show, The International Fancy Food Confection Show, The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Health & Fitness Expo, nor the National Retail Federation Loss Prevention Conference & EXPO.
In all seriousness, I would love to wear your shirt at conventions, the grocery store, the mall, on the bus, during breaks at work, honestly anywhere!
Also the conventions listed are all real conventions, and I mean no disrespect to any of their attendees!
