I am SO EXCITED to present my friend and fellow author Jessica Brody, and her exciting new release UNREMEMBERED!

About UNREMEMBERED

The only thing worse than forgetting her past...is remembering it.

When Freedom Airlines flight 121 went down over the Pacific Ocean, no one ever expected to find a single survivor; which is why the sixteen-year-old girl discovered floating amid the wreckage—alive—is making headlines across the globe. She has no memories of boarding the plane. She has no memories of her life before the crash. She has no memories…period. As she struggles to piece together her forgotten past and discover who she really is, every clue raises more questions. Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget?

Set in a world where science knows no boundaries and memories are manipulated UNREMEMBERED by Jessica Brody is the first novel in a compelling, romantic, and suspenseful new sci-fi trilogy for teens.

GM: What are your favorite and least favorite parts of the writing "process"?

JB: For this particular book, my favorite part was definitely brainstorming all of Seraphina’s unique abilities. That was when I got to sit down and think, “If I were a superhuman, would skills would I want to have?” Some of the abilities that made the final list were: strength, speed, multi-lingual, and the ability to read an entire 300-page book in less than 3 minutes. Now that would come in handy as an author.

My least favorite part of the process for this book was the copyediting stage. The book was kind of late getting into copyedits and so we had to do them very fast. And given the complexity of the story, there were a lot of logistical things that needed tweaking. This book was like a old, fragile tapestry, you pull one wrong string and the whole thing falls apart! So this was a particularly stressful time in the birth of the book.

GM: What was the main inspiration for this book?

JB: A few years ago, I read a newspaper article about a teen girl who was the sole survivor of a plane crash. I was instantly fascinated by the story. Namely because they had no idea why she survived when no else did. I started brainstorming reasons as to why she was so lucky. One particular reason (a rather intricate, science-fiction-inspired one) stuck in my mind and refused to leave. It continued to grow and blossom until I had an idea for an entire trilogy. A trilogy that starts with a mysterious plane crash and a single survivor.

GM: Who would you cast if your book was made into a movie?

JB: This is always SUCH a hard question for me! You would think it would be easier!

However, for the lead role of Seraphina, I’ve always pictured Nina Dobrev from the Vampire Diaries. Seraphina is described as having a “flawless” beauty. I’ve always thought Nina Dobrev fit that description so well. In fact, as I was writing, I took a picture of Nina Dobrev, photoshopped in Seraphina’s purple eyes, and hung it above my computer as inspiration.

Maybe Nina will read this, contact me, and be like, “Cool! I’ll totally be in the movie!” Hey, an author can dream. :)

GM: If you could ask one person, living or dead, a single question that they'd HAVE to answer, who and what would be it?

JB: O.J. Simpson – “So, come on, really...Did you do it?”

FAST FIVE:
Pie or Cake? Cake! (Red velvet, please!)
Coffee or Tea? Coffee when writing, tea every other hour of the day! (I’m even drinking some now!)
Mac or PC? PC for computer, mac for all my other gadgets.
Guilty Pleasure? Pixy Sticks!
Can't live without? My iPhone! I’m seriously considering having it surgically attached to my hand.
