Praise for LIVE THROUGH THIS by Mindi Scott:
“What makes this more than another ‘problem’ novel is the author’s steadfast refusal to deal in stereotypes and easy answers. –Kirkus Reviews, Starred Reviewd

“Harrowing, sad, funny, and romantic. I couldn’t put it down.” –Stephanie Perkins, author of Anna and the French Kiss

“Intensely emotional and beautifully crafted, I savored every word.” –Amanda Grace, author of In Too Deep

“An honest and realistic portrayal of what it is to live with secrets and shame.” –Jo Knowles, author of Lessons From a Dead Girl
About LIVE THROUGH THIS:

From the outside, Coley Sterling’s life seems pretty normal . . . whatever that means. It’s not perfect—her best friend is seriously mad at her and her dance team captains keep giving her a hard time—but Coley’s adorable, sweet crush Reece helps distract her. Plus, she has a great family to fall back on—with a mom and stepdad who would stop at nothing to keep her siblings and her happy.

But Coley has a lot of secrets. She won’t admit—not even to herself—that her almost-perfect life is her own carefully-crafted façade. That for years she’s been burying the shame and guilt over a relationship that crossed the line. Now that Coley has the chance at her first real boyfriend, a decade’s worth of lies are on the verge of unraveling.

In this unforgettable powerhouse of a novel, Mindi Scott offers an absorbing, layered glimpse into the life of an everygirl living a nightmare that no one would suspect.

GM: What are your favorite and least favorite parts of the writing "process"?

MS: My favorite is revising scenes into something good. My least favorite writing first drafts.

GM: What was the main inspiration for this book?

MS: I’ve written a letter for readers and posted it on my website explaining this in detail. http://mindiscott.com/index.php/2012/07/18/a-letter-to-readers-why-i-wrote-live-through-this/)The basic gist, though, is that I put off writing this book for years because I thought someone with more distance from the subject could do it better. One day, I realized that that wasn’t the case and that I needed to write this book.

GM: Who would you cast if your book was made into a movie?

MS: I really don’t have any specific actors in mind. I’d say that the models in my book trailer who portray the main character and her love interest resemble my characters better than anyone I’ve seen so far. I’m always on the lookout though. ;-)

GM: If you could ask one person, living or dead, a single question that they'd HAVE to answer, who and what would be it?

I want to ask George Lucas why, oh, why, he didn’t opt to let talented writers help him with his Star Wars prequel scripts. (I probably already know the answer though.)

FAST FIVE:
Pie or Cake? Pie.
Coffee or Tea? I like the taste of coffee better, but tend to drink more tea.
Mac or PC? PC
Guilty Pleasure? Miley Cyrus’s song “See You Again.”
Can't live without? My husband!
