pandora/ipod: "o mistress mine" by shaun davey, sung by ben kingsley
In my case? A shiny new idea, or SNI as my friends and I like to call it.
Why yes, I am about to turn in a manuscript to my editor.
Why yes, my brain is, apparently, trying to kill me.
It was really weird, actually. I was driving home from work yesterday and something happened, just something mundane and trivial, that created a plot bunny. By the time I got home, the plot bunny was niggling at my brain. I emailed my agent with the beginnings of an idea and asked if she knew of anything similar.
By the time I got back from walking my dog, the plot bunny had ASPLODED in my brain. I had characters. I had the beginnings of a story line. I had a first chapter practically fully formed. Emailed agent again, in a slightly manic state as I tend to be when I have a SNI.
Thankfully, I have an understanding agent. Bless her.
So there it is. Don't know when I'm going to have time to write it, but this idea is kind of awesome. It's like Fringe meets the Parent Trap, only dark and psychological, and without Hayley's Mills's song and dance numbers.
Oh yes. It needs a moniker here on the blog. Let's call this one 3:57.
Yummy plot bunnies!
ReplyDeleteI'm still in shock at how quickly you wrote the Henry Island novel! You're putting the rest of us to shame!
ReplyDeleteSounds great! And, anyway, the song and dance numbers were the weakest part of Parent Trap...I mean, did you see Hayley Mills totally faking all the chords? ;)
ReplyDeleteYES! That and the weird side by side "acting" in split screen. HAHAHAHA. (I still love that movie, though.)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new idea! Sounds very interesting :)
