Master Procrastinator

mood: coffee
pandora/ipod: "blue orchid" by the white stripes

Procrastination is an art form. Truly. And in this art form, Picasso, Monet, Rembrandt - those bitches ain't got nothing on me!

I have a day job that doesn't exactly hold my interest but makes it difficult for me to do much writing (the phones ring...every 30 seconds or so). Don't get me wrong, I am VERY thankful for the employment, and as many of you have heard me say before, I adore my boss. But a creative endeavor this job is not, and my brain needs...stimulation.

Case in Point: I write a lot of my blog posts from the office. Like write now on a Monday afternoon, I'm penning this Tuesday morning blog. I've also created a crapload of promotional materials, including, but not limited to:

Business cards

Faux cover art for BANISH

And my piece de procrastination resistance, the BANISH trailer

My ability to procrastinate is not confined to the office place. Ha. Ha, ha. I laugh at such a notion. I can procrastinate writing with any number of shiny, Interwebz distractions from the comfort of my own home, and vice versa, use writing to procrastinate doing anything domestically productive in said home. See that? I am switch it up, spin it around, use the procrastinator against the procrastinatee! Or is that the other way around? Wait, it doesn't matter - BECAUSE I AM A MASTER OF BOTH!

I know I'm not the only Master Procrastinator out there. Share with me your secrets, so that I may usurp them...

  2. I bet I could beat your procrastination any day. I have caused much anguish in my life due to putting off til tomorrow. Right I should be doing something else. But I just made tea so therefore I can check twitter *legitimately*. I need deadlines looming before anything gets done. My netbook allows me to waste time almost everywhere. Fortunitely my studio has no internet access. If I can make it there I'm good.

  3. I am procrastinating right now by reading your blog. :-) Tonight, I will procrastinate by watching your trailer (since I can't do that at work). Thank you for being an enabler!

  4. Yes, not only am I a Master Procrastinator, but I'm a Procrastination Enabler. :D

Jillesta, I can picture you staggering towards your studio, shiny things all around just waiting to distract you. "Must make it. Just...a...few...more...steps..."

  5. I wish I could see the trailer. I'll have to come back when I'm not at work. Darn firewalls.

For me? I procrastinate by hanging out in forums. Chatting. And then redoing my blogger template. Sigh.

  7. What sue and inkwench said!! Yes, whenever a procrastination mood strikes, I find myself at a blog or writing site. Or I will suddenly decide that I need to redo my marketing materials, just when I have a deadline for a state report...

  8. I provrastinate best by cleaning my house on days I am supposed to be writing. Instead I go to a cafe to avoid this.

  9. I'm going to have to wait to get home to watch the trailer... yay! Something to look forward to. Also, seems like you have writing on the mind! (Write now on this Monday afternoon.) Me, too.

  10. My procrastination is magnified times two because my hubby likes to procrasinate as well. So together, we are double trouble. Maybe one day I'll finish my book, but for now, I get an A+ in procrasination. :) Why do today what you can put off till tomorrow.

  11. At least you have stuff to show for your procrastination attempts. I've got nothing. Just lots of aimless clicking around on the internet.
