Halloween and NaNo: Two Great Tastes that Taste Great Together!

Halloween was epic. E. P. I. C.

For those of you who don't know, the annual West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval is the biggest Halloween party in the world. (Well, in my world.) Every year the event attracts over 100K people partying down Santa Monica Boulevard. There are parades, competitions, food, booze and bands. And my BFF Roy? Yeah, he lives right up the street.

We were joined by Dobby the House Elf, "I Do All of You" Decker and Tavi, the Sexiest Man in the World for some prepartying and a screening of CLUE at Roy's ("I hated her SO much. Flames. Flames from the side of my face. Heaving, breathless, heaving breaths.") As if that wasn't teh awesome, the best band in the whole wide world? Headlining the Carnaval right down the street.

I don't say "Best Band in the World" lightly. Vaud and the Villains is an experience not be missed. This summer they rocked the Cirque Berzerk after party with us four nights a week so even though I've seen their set like 40 times, it never gets old. A dust bowl Louisiana revivalist brass band with super hot dancers and more singers than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir? What is there not to love????? My not-so-secret V&V crush isn't entirely because I'd give my left arm to join: they really are that fantastic.

So we danced. We danced like they were going to amputate our legs in the morning... which might just happen since I think I crippled myself in those 5" wedges I had on. (No, I was not in costume and I don't want to hear about it, okay?) And it was sexy, not that you'd be able to tell from this shot of Tavi and me, but I think it really sums up the experience...

There was free admission to the see and be seen WeHo party afterwards, fully of firemen gogo dancers and hot underwear models. Not that they were looking at me, but you know first Roy, Decker and Tavi now underwear models - how can you not love being surrounded by so much hotness?

I fell into bed as the clocks fell back. Best Halloween ever.

Which leads me to NaNo. Today is the first of November, which means Day One of National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo, or just NaNo for those of us who are super lazy.) The goal is to write 50K words of a novel in a month and what better day to start than when I'm super hungover and sore? I mean, er, with an extra hour to the day? I've got two outlines mostly finished. Sorta finished? Partly finished? Just finished in my mind? Regardless, I'm going to start.....NOW.

Just as soon as I finish watching this Vaud and the Villains video. Epic.
